Victims’ Families Target Juarez Cartel in Court for Seized Assets and Justice

Recent years have seen a significant increase in legal action taken by victims’ families against drug cartels, with an evidenced strategy to collect from the Juarez drug cartel, a notorious group in Mexico. Families have been seeking to recoup $4.6 billion following a particularly gruesome event in 2019, where nine American citizens were killed in a brutal attack by cartel soldiers. As a result, lawyers have been tirelessly filing claims, amounting to over 1,200, in US district courts, targeting cash and assets seized from drug dealers and others suspectably linked to the Mexican traffickers.

The onslaught of claims mainly focuses on seizures, of varying amounts, with the spotted lowest being $1,779 collected from Arizona. While this may seem on the lower end of the spectrum, the length that families and their representatives are going to illustrates a deeply rooted fight for justice and reparation from the devastating loss inflicted by the Juarez cartel two years ago.

This comprehensive approach to legal retaliation against the drug cartel has been previously undisclosed but has now been brought to light due to its sheer volume and implacability.
