Brent Botha Takes Charge as Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa’s New CEO

Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa (NRFSA) made a substantial change to its organizational hierarchy with the announcement of its new CEO, Brent Botha. Known for his expertise in corporate and commercial litigation, Botha is set to step into his new role starting October 1.

Botha, who is the leader of the firm’s disputes practice group, will be succeeding Andrew Robinson. The appointment of Robinson as the interim CEO took place in May of the previous year. His temporary leadership spanned over a year, following the retirement of the firm’s former CEO, Maralise van der Westhuizen.

The sudden retirement came as a consequence of a lengthy period of ill health van der Westhuizen had been experiencing. Citing her struggles with managing the effects of Covid-19, van der Westhuizen decided to step down from her role, resulting in Robinson’s appointment as interim CEO.

The information about Botha’s appointment highlights the regular shifts in leadership roles within NRFSA and the wider legal industry, following unforeseeable circumstances like the global Pandemic. It also brings to light the legal firm’s strategies to maintain its continued operations and client obligations, by continuously making key leadership adjustments.
