Federal Judge Narrows Scope of Trade Secret Case Between CoStar Group and Move Inc.

U.S. District Judge George H. Wu of the California federal court has granted CoStar Group’s motion to dismiss two of six trade secret theft claims in a dispute with Move Inc. This legal matter involves allegations under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act. The judge ruled that two claims based on these acts should be dismissed, but allowed for the possibility of amendments to be made by Move Inc., a rival in the real estate analytics space. Move Inc. now has a timeline of three weeks to submit an amended complaint. More details on this case and the implications of this decision can be accessed through The Recorder.
