Japanese Law Firm TNY Group to Pioneer Expansion into India’s Newly Liberalized Legal Market

Adding to its international footprint, the Japanese law firm TNY Group is preparing to inaugurate its first office in India. This comes following India’s decision half a year prior to liberalize its domestic legal market.

The recent establishment of the TNY Group came in 2021, under the co-guidance of managing partners Yuji Tsutsumi and Takahisa Nagata. Both Tsutsumi and Nagata bring a wealth of experience to the firm, courtesy of their previous tenure with Anderson Mori & Tomotsune and TMI Associates, respectively. The firm prides itself on its versatility, offering services across various legal domains including, but not limited to, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.

Earlier this year, the Bar Council of India (BCI) broke new ground by declaring the liberalization of the Indian legal market after over two decades of constraints. The move is anticipated to open the gates for myriad global law firms, such as TNY Group, seeking to carve their niche in the Indian legal space.
