Morrison Foerster’s London Office Sees Key Changes Amid Legal Sector Hiring Resurgence

Morrison Foerster’s London office has recently gone through changes on its team. The office has seen the departure of finance partner, Vlad Maly, who is moving to McDermott Will & Emery, while also welcoming a new senior tech partner, Charlotte Walker-Osborn. These changes come amidst a spate of key partner moves in U.S. firms which suggest an increase in confidence in London’s hiring market.

Vlad Maly, who was with Morrison Foerster for over seven years, is joining McDermott, significantly extending the firm’s London transaction offering. Maly, whose expertise lies in leveraging intricate capital markets and equity derivative instruments, had tenures at Latham & Watkins, where he became partner, and began his career at Linklaters, as provided on his LinkedIn profile.

On the other hand, the appointment of Charlotte Walker-Osborn has brought new strengths to the firm’s technology transactions group. Walker-Osborn, who leads both Morrison Foerster’s European and U.K. technology practices, had previously served at the Big Four firm, EY. Prior to EY, she spent nearly 15 years at Eversheds Sutherland, where she held a place on the firm’s board and presided over the technology sector and AI practice, as indicated on her LinkedIn profile.

The recent weeks have showcased a series of key partner relocations among U.S. firms. For instance, Kirkland & Ellis recruited Alvaro Membrillera, Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison’s London head, last week. Similarly, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett improved its London real estate practice with the arrival of a senior lawyer from Blackstone, an investment firm.

Moreover, the London-based Travers Smith, which had been contending with a series of partner exits since last year, has expanded its asset management client services with the addition of a new partner, Tosin Adeyeri. Adeyeri, formerly a part of the private funds group at Proskauer Rose, has had experiences at Kirkland & Ellis, Shukte, Roth & Zabel, and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, as per her LinkedIn profile.

These changes and movements suggest a resurgence in the hiring market, particularly in the legal sector in London. As such, corporations and legal firms alike must stay informed on these developments that could affect the legal landscape.
