Simon Grieser, a founding partner of Reed Smith’s Frankfurt office and a member of its Financial Industry Group, is set to join Deloitte Legal. Scheduled to commence this role as a partner on September 1, 2023, Grieser will be a key addition to Deloitte’s advisory team in Frankfurt, Germany. His advisory expertise will be tapped within sectors such as credit and financial services institutions, as well as with national and international investors. He will work in close association with corporate and litigation service lines.
Before his tenure at Reed Smith, Grieser worked at Mayer Brown for over 12 years and earned his promotion to partner in 2009. “With his expertise and experience in advising investors, Simon Grieser expands our advisory offering beyond the banking sector,” notes Andreas Jentgens, the managing partner of Deloitte Legal.
Grieser is particularly attracted to Deloitte’s cross-divisional work, its international reach, and the ambition for further expansion of the advisory services as expressed by his future partners. Integration of professional and legal services offers yet another appealing feature of his new role. Grieser mentions the possibilities for collaboration with Deloitte’s other markets including Financial Advisory, Consulting, and Risk Advisory, in his conversation with Law.com International.
Whether Reed Smith will find a direct replacement for Grieser is still unknown. However, it’s worth noting that the firm has recently expanded its German operations by adding new partner Germar Enders, formerly of McDermott Will & Emery, in Munich earlier this month.
