A divergence in expert opinion has resulted in widespread debate and further controversy. Newman’s doctor, renowned neurologist Rothstein, examined her and insists that she is fit to serve both mentally and physically. A key point of contention is whether Rothstein took into account conversations with court staffers. Despite Newman’s coherent responses and corroborating reports in her favor, the committee’s recommendation for suspension stands.
