In a recent interview with the National Law Journal, retired federal appellate Judge Joseph A. Greenaway Jr. shared his thoughts on diverse aspects of the legal profession. Judge Greenaway, who recently retired, is joining Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer next month.
Appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2010 by former President Barack Obama, Greenaway comes with an illustrious career. Prior to this appointment, he contributed his legal acumen for more than 13 years on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He has a solid background as a federal prosecutor in New Jersey and functioned as in-house counsel at Johnson & Johnson.
During the conversation, he underscored the importance of diversity in the legal sector, reinforcing that it reflects societal progress. “Our profession is a reflection of society, and society is behind the notion of diversity and I think our profession is now doing the same thing,” he confessed.
