Expanding Horizons in Legal Tech: ILTACON 2023 Previews AI and Professional Development

ILTACON, one of the most anticipated events in the legal tech sphere, is fast approaching. And this year, it is expected to offer even greater content and format changes that have legal professionals across the globe buzzing with excitement (Above the Law).

In prior years, ILTACON offered six educational tracks. This year, a seventh track has been added to include sessions on professional development, leadership, and change management. It’s going to make the decision on what sessions to attend more challenging than ever!

This year is marked by the increasing interest and proliferation of AI within the legal industry. There will be 11 sessions focusing on different aspects of AI, including risk management, chatbots, and taxonomies in AI environments. Reminder to participants: the organizers have asked all business partners to be prepared to discuss their AI strategies.

If you’re one who is fascinated with the organization of information, then you can attend a session on Standards Advancement for the Legal Industry (SALI). SALI is an independent non-profit organization that works towards drafting standards in the legal sector, including the Legal Matter Specification Standard, it provides metadata that can support business intelligence systems or machine learning systems.

The ILTACON isn’t only about sessions dedicated to legal tech. Consider attending the session about “Building Team Effectiveness: Understanding DISC Behavioral Assessments @ Work,” led by Marcia Stokes of Ogletree. These sessions aim to help participants understand their strengths and weaknesses, as well as those of their colleagues, to work together more effectively.

The exhibition hall is a great place for networking with business partners, discussing product integrations, and exploring co-marketing opportunities. Whether you’re a business partner yourself or an attendee, the hall provides opportunities to forge and reinforce relationships.

While there are numerous exciting events lined up for this year’s ILTACON, the conference will regrettably miss the presence of the Women Who Lead panel discussion. Planned for Wednesday, the session will include Karen Campbell, CIO of Foley Hoag LLP, and Yvonne Sexton, CIO of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP. They will be discussing the challenges women face in a more diverse workplace.

As for the anticipated highlights of ILTACON 2023, face-to-face interaction remains a pinnacle. The event is regarded as the leading occurrence in the legal technology field, eliciting opportunities for industry peers to engage and learn about all the new technology that will aid the advancement of their respective firms.

ILTACON remains an outstanding experience year on year and will be dearly missed by those who are unable to attend.
