Texas Woman Detained for Threats Against Judge Overseeing Trump’s False Elector Case

A Texas woman identified as Abigail Jo Shry has been recently detained over threats she issued to District of Columbia judge Tanya Chutkan. Judge Chutkan is currently presiding over legal proceedings relating to the case of former President Donald Trump and the issue of false electors. This marks another worrying event in an already tense and politically charged situation surrounding Trump’s legal cases. Above the Law reported on the arrest.

Shry’s acrimonious actions commenced with a phone call to the federal courthouse, where she aimed her threats at Judge Chutkan and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. She used racially offensive language, further escalating the severity of her threats. After hurling racial slurs, Shry proceeded to say, “You are in our sights, we want to kill you.”

Documents from court proceedings disclose that Shry’s threats went even further, with her stating, “If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you.” In addition to this, she extended her threats to both all Democrats in Washington D.C and members of the LGBTQ community.

This is not the first time Judge Chutkan has come under attack. She has been the target of politically-charged rants from Donald Trump himself, with unfounded allegations of bias regularly being made against her. These claims have often been echoed by extremist right-wing sections of the public.
