Ex-GIC Managers’ Growtheum Capital Scores $567M Debut Fund with Morrison Foerster’s Aid

Morrison Foerster, a renowned international law firm, recently served as legal adviser for Growtheum Capital Partners’ closing of its $567 million debut fund. Growtheum Capital, a private equity firm headquartered in Singapore and helmed by ex-GIC managers, will utilize this fund for various deals across Southeast Asia and India.

Law.com reports that Growtheum was established in late 2021 by Managing Partner Amit Kunal and Partner Choo Koon Po. Both Kunal and Choo hold distinguished positions within GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, with Kunal having served as the former managing director of private equity in Southeast Asia and Choo as a vice president in the same unit.

The closing of this fund is particularly significant, occurring amid ongoing turbulence within the private equity industry, which has been grappling with a downturn since 2021.
