During the ILTACON event in Orlando, document management company iManage declared the introduction of iManage AI – an Artificial Intelligence (AI) search tool built directly into its cloud platform. The new tool aims to aid customers by enhancing productivity, extracting maximum value from their knowledge resources, and safeguarding data from potential security threats. ILTACON delegates had an opportunity for an initial demo of the tool’s capability to finely sift through document collections, effectively identifying knowledge assets pertinent to the task at hand.
The nucleus of iManage AI is a document classification and enrichment engine that substantially augments knowledge search and content workflows on the iManage platform. The AI feeds on models trained on scores of legal-specific documents to automatically scrutinize documents and distill crucial data points – such as dates, parties involved, or jurisdictions – then archives that information with the document.
This innovation empowers users to identify accurate fragments of information and incorporate them into their work processes to promote productivity and efficiency. Furthermore, iManage AI facilitates users’ automation of the process of tagging documents with metadata, making them easier to locate for particular applications.
Senior Director of operations within the Office of General Counsel at Hearst, An Trotter, endorsed iManage stating the product has streamlined their document analysis and management process by tagging the collected data with precise metadata, making them readily searchable.
The development of iManage AI primarily focused on creating tools for efficiently managing the content that the AI engine can access to ensure the relevance and accuracy of the responses while basing them on the most exemplary existing work product.
As far as client confidentiality is concerned, iManage AI incorporates robust governance tools to specifically manage the engine’s access to content. Furthermore, the AI engine exclusively analyses documents located within the customer’s own data repository, safeguarding complete confidentiality and ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory obligations.
iManage’s CEO Neil Araujo emphasized the significance of knowledge curation and quality data sets for the effective and ethical application of AI. He stated that achieving business benefits from AI technologies needs a knowledgeable partner with firm experience in AI technologies, comprehensive understanding of the risks involved, and expertise on how to mitigate them.
Parallelly, iManage is actively engaging with clients as part of the company’s Early Access Program to validate the results they perceive with the AI, and to ensure the selected approach incorporates the proper security and governance protections.
