Cravath Bolsters English Law Team with Strategic Hires in London Finance Sector

Cravath Swaine & Moore is enhancing its English Law capacities in London through the acquisition of two London-based advisors, versed in English law and with finance expertise. Chantelle Dovey and Helen Walsh joined the firm from Shearman & Sterling in May and June respectively, according to their LinkedIn and webpage profiles.

These new additions not only strengthen the English Law team at Cravath but also fill a qualification gap that existed within its ranks. Before 2023, there hadn’t been any employees admitted to practice in England and Wales in the firm’s U.K. team for 50 years. Both Dovey and Walsh are recognized as European Counsel with finance matters expertise and are also allowed to practice in England and Wales.

Earlier in the year, Cravath had made its initial English Law service offering, which was further strengthened with the hiring of the Shearman duo Korey Fevzi and Philip Stopford. The expansion of Cravath’s English Law capabilities with such experienced specialists demonstrates a clear strategic direction towards providing robust legal services within the United Kingdom.
