Former Finance Ministry Adviser Kent Howie Rejoins Borden Ladner Gervais as Senior Counsel

Kent Howie, a former assistant deputy minister at Canada’s federal Department of Finance, is rejoining Borden Ladner Gervais (BLG), this time as senior counsel within its corporate and capital markets group. Howie was a partner at BLG, which is recognized as Canada’s largest law firm, prior to taking up his role within the government in 2020.

In his role with the government, Howie began as a senior adviser to the deputy minister. He spent the past two years working as assistant deputy minister for Crown Investment and Asset Management, where he led the corporate finance branch in offering public policy and investment advice to the government.

Before his move to the government, Howie had a tenure of over 26 years with BLG. The specific roles and responsibilities he will take on in his new position as senior counsel have not yet been specified.
