Cuatrecasas Expands in Peru to Tap into Booming Copper Demand

Cuatrecasas, a renowned Spanish law firm, has expanded its practice in Peru with the addition of two partners. The firm’s expansion strategy is geared towards harnessing the increasing global demand for copper and other natural resources, as Peru is notably mineral-rich.

The newly recruited partners include Ina María Drago, who has been appointed to spearhead the firm’s natural resources department in Lima. She transitioned from Estudio Echecopar, a leading Peruvian firm that operates in association with Baker McKenzie. In her previous role, Drago had also worked as an associate at Sidley Austin. The second partner is yet to be named.

The addition of these new partners puts Cuatrecasas in a strategic position to lead two key practice areas in Peru, fueled by the country’s copper wealth. This move comes in response to the growing global demand for copper, which has been propelled by the burgeoning electric vehicle industry.
