Mexico’s M&A Market Soars in H1 2023 Despite Global Sluggishness

In an otherwise sluggish global M&A scene, Mexico has pierced through, recording an upbeat performance in the first half of 2023. An analysis by Refinitiv presents an encouraging picture of Mexico’s M&A landscape, marking a remarkable upward trajectory in deal value compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

The first six months of 2023 witnessed 116 transactions involving Mexico, with an aggregate value of $11.5 billion. An impressive climb of 70% in value against the 111 deals worth $6.8 billion documented during the same period in the preceding year.

At the forefront of Latin American M&A activity is law firm Baker McKenzie, who has ridden the Mexican deal wave through and contributed significantly to these results. Despite an overall bleak global M&A market, Mexico has been one of the few bright spots, setting a positive and hopeful precedent for the second half of 2023.
