In addition to his role with the Law Society, Tan was a partner at TSMP Law Corporation, a firm in Singapore, where he specialized in court disputes involving areas such as intellectual property and shareholder oppression.
Throughout his career, Tan was notably dedicated to addressing the high rates of attrition in the legal profession. He invested significant effort into combatting the trend of young lawyers resigning early on from their roles, a phenomenon he aptly called ‘The Great Resignation’.
