US Chamber Continues Legal Battle Against Biden Administration’s Medicare Drug Price Negotiations

The US Chamber of Commerce, along with multiple affiliates, has requested a federal judge to turn down an attempt by the Biden administration to dismiss a lawsuit brought forth by the business group. The intention of this lawsuit is to pause the negotiation program for Medicare drug prices. This information was revealed in a report by Bloomberg Law.

Imbruvica’s manufacturer, AbbVie Inc., and other members of the Chamber, could potentially face serious, irreversible harm if a preliminary injunction on drug price negotiations is not issued by Judge Thomas M. Rose of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, according to a filing submitted by the organization on Friday.

The Chamber and its affiliates maintained that their members are currently facing “unrecoverable losses”. Despite arguments opposing the Chamber’s claims from HHS attorneys who suggest that the business group is merely speculating potential harms, the Chamber remains steadfast in seeking resolution through legal channels.
