Weil Gotshal Joins Top NY Law Firms Mandating Four-Day Office Attendance

Weil, Gotshal & Manges has become another New York law firm implementing a policy to require attorneys to work in the office for four consecutive weekdays. This move comes hot on the heels of similar decisions adopted by Wall Street peers.

As indicated in a firm-wide email unearthed by The American Lawyer, the policy mandates lawyers to operate from the office from Monday through Thursday, effective from September 5. Additionally, associates and counsel are granted 12 annual “flexible remote days”, with the remaining four to be exercised in 2023 following the policy’s enforcement in September.

Notably, this decision reflects the trend among top-tier New York law firms—Weil stands as the third Am Law 50 law firm to introduce a four day office-attendance requirement per week, proceeding similar actions from Skadden and Davis Polk.
