Perkins Coie Triumphs in Disqualification Bid Amid BeSang’s Patent Suit Against Intel

Noted law firm Perkins Coie LLP has successfully defended off a disqualification attempt in a patent infringement lawsuit brought forward by BeSang Inc. against Intel Corp., continuing its representation of the tech giant. As reported by Bloomberg Law, the case is being heard in a US District Court in Oregon.

The motion to disqualify Perkins Coie from the case owed its origins to an alleged conflict of interest. However, the presiding Judge Marco A. Hernandez of the US District Court for the District of Oregon ruled against this, stating that BeSang’s legal representation was unable to substantiate their claims of a genuine conflict of interest.

The lawsuit was initially filed by BeSang against Intel at the beginning of 2023. Perkins Coie was called in to represent Intel the following month. The disqualification motion was filed in late June after BeSang’s counsel alerted Perkins Coie of a potential conflict of interest a couple of weeks earlier.

Seemingly, the contention revolved around three prior incidents involving BeSang that Perkins Coie was privy to. The ruling, however, stated that the information shared with Perkins Coie during these instances was unrelated to the current infringement case against Intel.

The outcome upholds Perkins Coie’s right to represent their client Intel Corp., maintaining the status quo in this ongoing legal battle.
