The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has proposed new regulations with implications for the rights and accommodations of pregnant workers. Specifically, these relate to the implementation of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), which will come into effect on July 27, 2023. As mandated by the PWFA, employers with 15 or more employees will be required to accommodate pregnancy and pregnancy-related complications in the workplace.
According to a recently published article available here, the proposed changes put forth by the EEOC have significant implications for the accommodation of pregnant workers. However, it is important to note that as of the time of writing, these proposed changes are still in the consultation phase and yet to be finalized.
