Proskauer Rose’s Greater China Operations: Full-time Partners Exit, Lone Attorney Remains in Hong Kong Office

Proskauer Rose, a leading international law firm, faces significant shifts in its operations in Greater China. All its full-time partners within this region have exited the firm. Key departures include Beijing funds partner Yong Ren, who joined the firm in 2014, and Hong Kong corporate partner Jeremy Leifer, a member of Proskauer since 2011. Details can be found here.

The recent departures come after the firm’s announcement less than three months ago that it would close its Beijing office. Despite this, and the subsequent departures, Proskauer stated in June that it intended to maintain its presence in Hong Kong. The firm had previously employed Leifer and three other associates in its Hong Kong office, all of whom are no longer listed on the firm’s website. The Hong Kong office, up until May, also included private equity and venture capital lawyer Jay Tai.

Though the firm has been reduced to a single lawyer in its Hong Kong office, it remains committed to its presence in the market. The loss of full-time partners in China and Hong Kong is significant, but Proskauer emphasizes that it will endure, maintaining operations in Hong Kong.
