VA Grants Awarded to Law Schools Aimed at Reducing Veteran Homelessness

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recently initiated a new program that distributes grants to legal service providers for veterans in a bid to combat the risk of homelessness amongst this demographic. Syracuse University College of Law, Emory University School of Law, and Cornell Law School have been awarded these grants, each receiving $150,000. In total, the Department of Veterans Affairs has allocated $11.5 million for these legal services grants.

These three law schools were amongst 79 recipients of funding under the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Legal Services for Veterans Grant Program, as disclosed in the VA’s data.

Beth Kubala, teaching professor and executive director of the Veterans Legal Clinic (VLC) expressed gratitude in a statement, noting the significance of the program for supporting legal service providers in their efforts to serve those at risk veterans.
