In a recent financial disclosure report, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas revealed that his travel costs for three trips last year were paid by Republican megadonor Harlan Crow. This is the first instance in at least two decades where Thomas has documented travel funded by Crow in official paperwork.
Crow is a Dallas real estate developer who has regularly been a host to Justice Thomas and his wife during luxurious trips for several years. The Supreme Court Justice’s close financial ties with Crow, featuring luxury vacations, private jet flights, and real estate transactions, have recently come under scrutiny, thanks in large part to a series of in-depth ProPublica reports published earlier this year.
