The law of 26 July 2023 amending the law of 2 September 2011, which regulates access to various professions, has been published in the Luxembourg Official Gazette on 28 August 2023. Known as the Business Licence Law, it is set to enter into force on 1 September 2023. This New Law results from the adoption by the Luxembourg Parliament of draft bill n°7989 on 20 July 2023.
The revised regulations pave the way for more dynamic entrepreneurship in the country, altering the existing landscape of the business licence. The primary intention behind the amendment is to encourage innovation and enable easy access for entrepreneurs of various fields, including craftsman, trader, industrialist, and certain liberal professionals.
As the world recovers from the economic blow dealt by the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes increasingly essential for laws and regulations to foster a conducive environment for business ventures. It not only emphasizes the importance of startups, but also accentuates Luxembourg’s efforts to create an environment that supports the growth of enterprises.
Today’s businesses need to be flexible, agile, and innovative to survive in the highly competitive landscape. With these changes introduced by the Business Licence Law, Lesser paperwork and streamlined processes can stimulate entrepreneurship, drive innovation, and bolster the economy.
The New Law also signifies an important step towards reducing bureaucratic hassles and fostering a supportive atmosphere for existing businesses and budding entrepreneurs across Luxembourg. The implications of the law are far-reaching, and only time will tell how it will influence Luxembourg’s business sector.
