Reveal Acquires Logikcull and IPRO, Creating First Comprehensive E-Discovery Platform

The e-discovery landscape is poised for a significant reshaping, as the global e-discovery company Reveal announced its recent acquisition of two other key players in the e-discovery arena, Logikcull and IPRO.

The merger aims to form the first comprehensive e-discovery platform that serves all sized legalities and types of legal teams, ranging from individual legal practitioners to the most substantial enterprise-scale operations. The acquisition deal, provided for by Reveal’s majority stockholder, the software investment firm K1 Investment Management, is valued at over $1 billion.

The alliance brings together Logikcull and IPRO’s unique capabilities with Reveal’s known AI expertise, creating a one-stop shop for e-discovery tools that cater to different sizes and scopes of matters. This move cultivates Reveal’s position as a premier partner for modernizing legal practice through automation. This acquisition drive follows the 2021 merger of Reveal and Brainspace, buoyed by a $200 million investment from K1, solidifying Reveal’s position in the AI-powered e-discovery domain.

Questions were raised about the potential redundancies among retained employees and executives from both companies. In response, a Reveal spokesperson addressed their readiness to manage changes during such massive acquisitions, expressing their commitment to dealing fairly with overlapping roles while ensuring a smooth welcome for Logikcull and IPRO personnel.

As the M&A proceeds, Logikcull is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Founders Andy Wilson and Sheng Yang embarked on this journey with the intention of automating and democratizing e-discovery. One of the first cloud-based e-discovery platforms, Logikcull has consistently found favor among lawyers in smaller firms, government agencies, and corporate legal offices, thanks to its automation features.

With the acquisitions, new functionalities will be integrated into Reveal’s ecosystem. This includes Logikcull’s self-service feature, allowing Reveal to offer advanced automation capabilities in the industry.

In acquiring these companies, Reveal can extend its coverage to every stage of the e-discovery process, from data collection and processing to review and analysis. Furthermore, Reveal’s ability to absorb IPRO’s specific strengths—covering the full EDRM spectrum from information governance and legal holds through to document review, production, and trial—adds an extra dimension to the deal.

In the path to achieving growth strategy, Wendell Jisa, Reveal’s founder and CEO, speaks of the acquisitions of Logikcull and IPRO as an opportunity to consolidate the best technologies into one platform to provide customers with better control and options for their e-discovery workflows.

Reveal now serves a diverse range of clients, expanding from SMB to mid-market and enterprises, and now boasts employees in more than two dozen countries, serving 4K+ clients worldwide. Reveal’s offering now covers a broad spectrum of services, incorporating information governance, early case assessment, legal hold, collection, data processing, document reviewing, and trial presentation aligned with one of the most potent AI engines in legal technology. This positions Reveal as a one-stop provider for all e-discovery requirements.
