The University of Tennessee College of Law recently received a significant financial boost in the form of a $2 million gift from local litigation firm, Summers, Rufolo & Rodgers. The Chattanooga-based firm, with a focus on personal injury and criminal defense, is deeply tied to the university, boasting four UT Law alumni amongst its staff.
The firm’s express hope is that this generous gift will facilitate the continuing refinement of the legal field both within Chattanooga and further afield in Tennessee. Much gratitude is expressed by Marya Wegenka Schalk, an attorney at Summers and a 2005 graduate of UT Law, who notes the continued support the university has received from the firm over the years.
In terms of practical applications, this gift is earmarked to support several key areas within the law school. Particularly, it is set to bolster the Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution and the Legal Clinic.
