The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has officially announced the date for the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection. The process is set to begin on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 according to a statement published on September 1, 2023.
In addition to this, EEOC has also stated the final day for employers to file their EEO-1 reports. The deadline is set for Tuesday, December 5, 2023. This gives employers a little over a month to complete and submit their data.
The EEO-1 report, also known as the Employer Information Report, is a compliance survey mandated by federal statute and regulations, which requires company employment data to be categorized by race or ethnicity, gender, and job category. This comprehensive report aids the EEOC in identifying and investigating potential instances of workplace discrimination.
The responsibility of filing the EEO-1 report generally falls to employers with 100 or more employees. Certain federal government contractors with less than 100 employees may also be required to submit under certain conditions.
For businesses, the timely submission of the EEO-1 report is of paramount importance as neglecting to do so can lead to fines or even loss of government contracts. Thus, it is advised that employers use this advanced notice to gather and prepare the necessary data, ensuring a smooth process come October 31.
