Aspen Publishing Acquires License to Administer JD-Next Admissions Exam

Aspen Publishing has obtained an exclusive license from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law to administer the JD-Next law school admissions test. This exclusive rights acquisition comes after the Council of the American Bar Association’s Section of Legal Education and Admissions’ approval of a variance in June allowing for the JD-Next exam to be used for admissions purposes. Such a verdict implies not only the University of Arizona, but also other law schools, can apply for a variance to use the JD-Next exam. This alternative testing method can be utilized in place of the traditional Law School Admissions Test and the Graduate Record Exam.

According to Marc Miller, the dean and Ralph W. Bilby professor of law at the University of Arizona law school, the JD-Next course offers a solid foundation allowing students to hone the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in law school and beyond. The test’s unique design measures a candidate’s potential rather than examining their past, providing a novel approach in the field of law school admissions.
