Litera CEO Sheryl Hoskins: Growth, Acquisitions, and the Future of Generative AI in Legal Tech

Since joining Litera in April 2022, CEO Sheryl Hoskins has seen her company expand from a primary focus on document technology into arenas such as contract review, transaction management, firm intelligence, talent management, governance and more. This growth was fueled by a series of approximately 17 acquisitions, marking an intense period of development for the company.

Litera, under Hoskins’ leadership, has continued on this trajectory, with one of the latest plans involving an ambitious strategy around generative AI. The upcoming months are expected to bring a series of product releases and enhancements in line with this development. Litera, which started with a much smaller base, has grown to a global scale with over 2.3 million users, almost 1,000 employees across the globe, and 15,000 global customers. This includes 99 of the Am Law 100 and 90% of the largest law firms worldwide.

Prior to her role at Litera, Hoskins spent more than 20 years in the global technology industry, boasting a proven record in managing global teams. Her career includes tenures at General Electric and McKesson Corp where she served in both domestic and international leadership roles. Hoskins also spent six years as an active-duty officer in the U.S. Army and was the CEO of restaurant management platform Upserve.

In her most recent interview, available on the LawNext podcast, Hoskins detailed her career and the factors that influenced her decision to join Litera. She also elaborated on the current state of the company and shared her vision for Litera’s future.
