London Law Firms’ Beekeeping Trend: Eco-Friendly CSR or Environmental Misstep?

Bees have recently become a widespread interest among prominent London law firms. Notable law firms such as Clifford Chance, CMS, Eversheds Sutherland, Hogan Lovells, and Russell Cooke have all incorporated bee hives on top of their UK offices, according to a report by Law.com International.

It seems this new venture serves as an attractive means of promoting corporate social responsibility, particularly at a moment when businesses are making efforts to encourage employees back to onsite work. The engaging image of these significant insects represents a firm’s commitment to ecological causes.

However, certain experts suggest that this trend may not be as eco-friendly as it appears. According to an expert quoted by Law.com International, “if what law firms want is green credentials, keeping bee hives is a very bad idea and likely to backfire.”
