Navigating Digital Asset Regulation: Ex-FTX Counsel Establishes Miller Strategic Partners

Ryne Miller, formerly the U.S. general counsel for cryptocurrency exchange FTX, has established his own New York-based legal firm, Miller Strategic Partners. His firm aims to offer guidance to both digital asset and blockchain corporations and traditional financial firms. They will particularly focus on issues of regulation, regulatory investigations, and crisis management.

Drawing from his background and experience in trading, markets, digital assets, and government investigations, Miller revealed his decision to set up an independent firm following his departure from FTX in March during an interview on Law.com.

In a comment on the distinction between illegalities and errors requiring legal counsel, Miller posited, “The difference between something that’s illegal and something that needs your advice and counsel to get corrected is usually pretty stark.” His statement alludes to the circumstances of his exit from FTX, following charges of a substantial fraud levelled against CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

Miller’s newly constructed firm and his background could potentially offer a unique perspective to clients navigating the increasingly complex legal landscape of digital assets and cryptocurrency.
