Rudolph Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York City and previous pro bono attorney of Donald Trump, recently offered his services to the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, as announced by Speaker Kevin McCarthy, despite
currently being unlicensed to practice law.
Giuliani made his offer during an appearance on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, stating he was “prepared to do the questioning if they got the guts for it… I know how to question a lot better than they do”. Reminiscing, Giuliani compared the impeachment inquiry to cases from his past professional experience.
However, not everyone might be as enthusiastic about his involvement. In his last courtroom appearance in 2020 when he represented the Trump campaign, a federal judge dismissed the case Giuliani brought forth, deeming his arguments as without merit and unsupported by evidence.
Despite such setbacks, Giuliani insists that the impeachment allegations are familiar territory to him, as he’s spent five years involved with similar claims. He even goes so far as to say that the case “could be won by a moderately talented prosecutor” and could be proven with digital evidence alone.
However, the validity of his boasts might be called into question, considering his recent missteps such as losing in a defamation case brought by Georgia poll workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss by failing to properly manage discovery. Furthermore, he is currently facing RICO charges and is named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a pending federal indictment.
Regardless, it seems Giuliani is unfazed and is adamant about offering his assistance in the impeachment investigation. As the Independent reports, Giuliani wants to be lead counsel on Biden impeachment – as he awaits trial with Trump.
