Top Am Law 200 firms are soon to have access to a new AI-powered recruiting tool, Haistack – Law Firm. This product has been led and developed by Michael Heise in partnership with Lateral Link, ahead of the official launch on September 18.

It aggregates publicly available attorney, firm, and job data from across the internet and enriches it with Lateral Link’s proprietary data. Heise’s background gives him a unique perspective in creating this tool. He studied Business Information Systems at the University of Maryland before working for both government and private clients, including the State Department and NASDAQ. From 2013, Heise took on a full-time software development role at the DC Police Department, where he spent nearly three years. During these roles, he gained a deep understanding from his experience in different sectors.
His plunge into the world of law firms came when his wife became a law student, which piqued his curiosity about law firms. This led him to roles at an Am Law 30 and an Am Law 20 firm. His time at these firms highlighted the critical importance of security and data privacy in the software deployed in law firms and also the need for turnkey solutions to streamline user experience, lessons that he has brought into the development of Haistack – Law Firm.
Heise has built Haistack – Law Firm to provide a seamless user experience. Users can use their LinkedIn, Google, or Microsoft credentials linked to their firm’s email to log in. The system recognizes the user’s firm and automatically displays data customised to that firm. He feels his background in software, combined with his understanding of how major law firms operate, makes him the right choice to develop this product.
