In a recent interview with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison’s Practice Group Chair, Audra J. Soloway, valuable insights were shared on her journey to leadership and growth as a legal professional. Soloway highlighted the necessity of purposely seeking out leadership opportunities. Expounding, she argued the importance of pushing oneself out of comfort zones, venturing into new areas and embracing the unfamiliar, but in the perspective of growth. The contention implied is that these challenges and new experiences broaden one’s horizons as a lawyer and enhance their capabilities.
As Soloway succinctly puts it, “Sometimes we need to be just a little uncomfortable, trying new things, to continue to grow as lawyers.” In her belief, the ability of a legal professional to continually adapt, innovate and break new grounds is predicated on maintaining a growth mindset, ready and willing to undertake new challenges. This perspective was instrumental in her achieving the role of Practice Group Chair and maintaining the drive to continually elevate her performance and leadership.
