In the realm of legal developments and compliance, October 2023 promises to be a transformative month. The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is all set to incorporate two new members, as reported by the JD Supra.
The inclusion of Dr. Alison Bateman-House and Dr. Neal W. Dickert introduces a new dynamic to the advisory committee. Dr. Bateman-House serves as an assistant professor in the Division of Medical Ethics at New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine. Her experience and knowledge could provide valuable insight into the ethical aspects surrounding human research protections.
On the other side, Dr. Dickert holds a significant position as a professor of medicine. His extensive background in the medical field, coupled with his expertise in ethics, could greatly benefit the policy-making process within the SACHRP.
Given their noteworthy records in medical ethics and their overall contributions to their respective fields, the decision to include Dr. Bateman-House and Dr. Dickert in the SACHRP has been positively received within the legal community. An email notice sent out to the Office for Human Research Protections on September 11 announced these new additions.
