Richard Posner, former U.S. appellate judge, is set to face several claims in a wage lawsuit that accuses him of nonpayment to an employee of a now-closed pro bono legal services organization. These developments unfold as an Indiana federal judge made a ruling adhering to a magistrate judge’s report and recommendations this past Monday.
According to the allegations, Posner had hired Brian Vukadinovich as an executive director for the Posner Center of Justice for Pro Se’s, agreeing to an annual salary of $120,000. However, Posner reportedly failed to remit a sum of $170,000, which Vukadinovich claims were his due earnings for over a year of work.
The lawsuit represents a claim for both breach of contract and unjust enrichment. The former judge, whose service and contributions to the U.S. legal system has shaped numerous precedents, now finds himself entwined in this pending legal action.
