The University of Akron School of Law and Central State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), have inked a fresh ‘3+3’ agreement that would allow students to secure both a bachelor’s degree and J.D. in just six years – as opposed to the conventional seven-year timeline. This domestic partnership intends to establish an effortless, orderly multistage system beneficial for students.
The Central State University representatives expressed their eagerness to collaborate with the University of Akron School of Law through a common objective – to nurture an efficient academic timeline for future law professionals.
In line with University of Akron Law’s announcement, this development could potentially shorten a student’s academic journey, positioning them optimally for legal career opportunities by saving a year’s worth of time that is typically required for achieving the same set of degrees.
This new alliance amplifying cooperation between the two institutions arrived shortly after President Joe Biden proclaimed Sept. 24 through Sept. 30 as the National Historically Black Colleges and Universities week, as per a White House report. This aligns with the administration’s dedicated efforts to strengthen support and consciousness regarding HBCUs nationwide.
