Healthcare Basic Compliance Academy: A Deep Dive Into the Seven Element Approach

The Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) is set to offer a three-and-a-half-day Healthcare Basic Compliance Academy geared toward enhancing the skills of compliance professionals in the healthcare industry. The classroom-style learning program will run from January 22nd to 25th in Kissimmee, Florida.

The Academy hopes to attract participants who already have some level of knowledge and experience in compliance, but are looking to solidify their understanding, and thus, move up in their professional careers. This comprehensive training aims to cover the fundamentals of managing a compliance program based on the Seven Element Approach.

The Seven Element Approach has been a trusted strategy serving as the foundation of compliance within the healthcare context. This methodology includes standards and procedures to reduce criminal conduct, an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct, due diligence in delegating substantial discretionary authority, effective communication and training, auditing and monitoring, enforcement and discipline, and appropriate response and prevention upon detection of offense.

As hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, health insurers, and other industry players navigate an increasingly complicated legal landscape, a solid understanding of compliance becomes critical. The HCCA’s Academy promises to equip attendees with the knowledge to implement and manage robust compliance programs — a significant value addition to any healthcare-related corporation or law firm.
