SEC Enforcement Surge Creates Swell of Work for Big Law Firms

In an aggressive week of enforcement actions by The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Big Law firms and boutiques alike find themselves in a surge of work. Actions have been taken mainly against broker-dealers, corporate insiders and others. Previously in September, the SEC had already announced settlements or charges in more than three dozen matters. Interestingly, about 20 of these were in the last week itself.

Big Law firms such as Wilmer, Sidley, King & Spalding, Skadden are advising various parties. The parties include corporate insiders, companies, financial firms and others who are embroiled in these latest enforcement actions by the SEC. The ripple effect from the SEC’s busy week can be said to have caused a wave of work for these law firms.
