Washburn University School of Law has been chosen as the venue for the Kansas Supreme Court’s upcoming oral arguments session on November 3rd. This session will provide a unique opportunity to law students and general public to watch court proceedings live. The session is set to take place in the Heath Family Appellate Courtroom, a part of the refurbished Washburn Law building. The news was disseminated via an announcement email to Law.com.
Chief Justice Marla Luckert expressed optimism about the session, indicating such events could potentially mitigate the current shortage of lawyers in many Kansas counties. “Conducting court at a law school brightens my view of the future,” she said. The Chief Justice went on to commend the efforts of the law students, whom she referred to as the “next generation of lawyers to live, work, and be civically active in our communities.”
