Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ long-serving head of London operations, Mike Francies, is set to retire at the end of 2024, a move that marks the end of his leadership stint which commenced in 2000 following his departure from Clifford Chance, as stated by an Law.com report.
Jonathan Wood, a private equity partner, and David Avery-Gee, head of London M&A partner, are expected to take on the role of co-managing partners as Mr. Francies transition commences. They are set to begin their co-leadership duties alongside Francies from the start of 2023 until his retirement at 2024’s end.
Wood had first joined Weil alongside PE partner Marco Compagnoni in 2006 from Lovells, a legacy firm. Avery-Gee, on the other hand, became a part of Weil after leaving Linklaters in 2019.
