This week, partners from Am Law 100 law firms began a fundraising initiative aimed at raising funds for charitable donations. These funds will be used to support relief efforts in Israel, following the resurging military conflict sparked by a deadly attack orchestrated by Hamas. The conflict has reportedly resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 Israelis.
By the morning of Friday, individual partners from Kirkland & Ellis pledged a donation total of over $1.5 million. This amount signifies a significant jump from the $450,000 pledged, as confirmed by a leaked email on Thursday morning. The American Lawyer, upon obtaining this email, ascertained the veracity of the pledged amount from sources within the firm.
According to incomplete information, law firms including Quinn Emanuel and Paul Weiss are also reported to be soliciting additional donations. With continued fundraising endeavors within these major law firms, the collective contributions are expected to make a substantial impact on ground relief efforts in Israel.
