Akron Law’s Ohio Guarantee Initiative: Streamlining Admissions for High-Achieving State Residents

Amid the unpredictable nature of life, the University of Akron School of Law introduces a touch of certainty to prospective law students who are Ohio residents. Known as the Akron Law Ohio Guarantee, a newly-announced initiative would guarantee admission to the J.D. program for any Ohio resident who meets certain academic qualifications.

By achieving a Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score of 151 or higher, and maintaining a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.4 or above, students will ensure automatic entry into the program. This approach to admission was curated in an effort to minimize the stress of the typically uncertain law school admission process, according to Barbara DiGiacomo, Akron Law’s associate dean for administration and enrollment management.

These measures aim to provide a much-needed sense of clarity and certainty to many prospective law students. With significant emphasis placed on one’s academic credentials, this initiative highlights the firm commitment of Akron Law in recognizing and rewarding academic excellence.
