Former D.C. Circuit Judge Janice Rogers Brown was recently called upon to vouch for the character of John Eastman at his California State Bar Court trial on ethical and legal violations.
Brown, who is also a former California Supreme Court justice and now works as a fellow at the University of California Berkeley Law School, was the last of five character witnesses to testify on behalf of Eastman. During her testimony, she painted a picture of Eastman as a meticulous researcher, stating that he was always thoroughly prepared with an in-depth understanding of the chosen topics.
The retired judge told the court that she has generally found Eastman’s arguments “interesting, well researched, well supported”. This kind of praise encapsulates the sentiment coming from Eastman’s side during the ongoing trial.

The trial continues, and it remains to be seen how the court will take into consideration these character references when deciding on Eastman’s legal and ethical conduct.
