DOJ Investigates Tesla for Potential Personal Benefits Violations and Advertised Vehicle Range

Tesla Inc. has recently admitted to receiving information requests and subpoenas from the US Department of Justice. These are in relation to potential personal benefits violations, the advertised range of their vehicles, and certain personnel decisions.

The automobile giant disclosed this information in a filing earlier this week, that it had received these requests in the third quarter of the year.Bloomberg Law reported these details on October 23rd, 2023.

The Wall Street Journal had reported in September of potential perks provided to Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk that were under investigation by federal prosecutors. These alleged benefits date back to 2017 and include a project to construct a glass house for the CEO.
