Eastman Testifies on Actions Before Capitol Riot in State Bar Court Hearing

On Monday October 23rd, 2023, John Eastman, the former attorney for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, defended his actions leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in a remote hearing before California’s State Bar Court.

Eastman detailed his accounts of the events of Jan. 5th and Jan. 6th, stressing that his broad critiques of the 2020 presidential election’s precision were grounded in both experts’ findings and his own due diligence. According to his testimony, Eastman had no discussions with Trump on the morning preceding the Capitol riot. Eastman’s declaration also highlighted his conviction that he had not intended to incite any Capitol rally attendees on Jan. 6.

This is an ongoing trial and Eastman is expected to testify again on Tuesday, with the turn of the prosecutors next. As data continues to arise on this case, we will keep our readers posted.
