San Diego Attorney, Benjamin Laurence Pavone, has been suspended for a second time by the California Supreme Court. The suspension arrives as a result of the court’s ruling against Pavone’s own claim that the state bar was selectively enforcing rules against sole practitioners and small firms. According to Pavone, larger firms were allowed to evade these same rules.
On Wednesday, during their weekly meeting, justices mandated a 30-day suspension and a stayed suspension of a year for Pavone. He had failed in his duties to represent a woman seeking to keep her position as a trustee for her grandmother’s trust.
The legal professional body in California, the California State Bar, had previously accused Pavone of moral turpitude, unchecked misrepresentation, charging excessive fees, and more due to his alleged incompetence while representing the woman involved.
