The report sought to investigate the biases women and caregivers experience in the legal domain and present possible policy changes to those in power that could bolster gender equity in the workplace. The report, titled “Legal Careers of Parents and Child Caregivers,” was co-authored by Roberta Liebenberg, recipent of the American Lawyer Lifetime Achievement award, Stephanie Scharf, partner at Scharf Banks Marmor and founder of The Red Bee Group, and Paulette Brown, former president of the ABA.
Liebenberg highlighted that the data showed a skewed representation of mothers in key areas of the profession such as allocation of consequential assignments, case arrangements involving travel, and lack of sponsors or mentors. The data also pointed to considerable salary disparities, with the differences growing as income augmented. (Read more)
