Over 100 Law Firms Unite Against Antisemitism on Law School Campuses

Over 100 esteemed law firms have taken a stance against the disturbing rise in antisemitic incidents, with firms including Hogan Lovells, White & Case, and Goodwin Procter, adding their names to a letter addressed to law school deans. The initiative, initially led by Joseph C. Shenker, senior chair of Sullivan & Cromwell, compels for a response against the sharp increase in antisemitism noted on their campuses. Akshay Verma, formerly associated with Meta Platforms Inc. and Coinbase as legal operations director has taken up the role of chief operating officer at SpotDraft, a contract lifecycle management software company. While at Coinbase, Verma played a key role in setting up the legal operations function of the cryptocurrency company back in April 2022.

Boston-based real estate lawyer Sammy Nabulsi’s tireless efforts to extract a family of US citizens stranded in Gaza proved successful, as they were able to cross into Egypt via the Rafah border crossing on Nov. 1. More details are available in their New York Magazine feature.

Meanwhile, 19 Big Law firms have grouped together to revive a program in District of Columbia aimed at ensuring DC tenants have legal representation during eviction proceedings. Arnold & Porter, Crowell & Moring, and Cleary Gottlieb rank among the firms contributing to this resurgence, reflecting a growing nationwide support for the provision of legal aid to individuals facing eviction.
